The Killer In Us

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

There is a killer in all of our hearts until we entrust them to the Lord. This killer destroys the best parts of our lives a little at a time and, if unrestrained, it will eventually completely destroy them. The killer was in me before I received Christ and I see it in unbelievers that I encounter. Blessedly the Lord restrained the killer in me to the extent that it only destroyed parts of my life. I weep over what the killer did to me and through me and what it does to and through unbelievers. The killer’s name is sin.

Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death; . . .

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

The only thing that can expunge that killer from our hearts and purify them is the blood of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:5 . . . And from Jesus Christ, . . . him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Acts 15:8-9 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, PURIFYING THEIR HEARTS BY FAITH.

What a wonderful thing it is when Jesus removes the killer from our hearts. He alone can remove the destroyer of our lives and replace it with His life-preserving peace.

John 10:10b . . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Philiippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
