We are created in God’s image. (Genesis 1:26) Murder is a blow against the image of God. It may not be the final blow against God. It may not be the final rejection of God. Something simple like resisting Him or ignoring Him or arguing with Him may be the final blow.
There are many evils committed by men that we consider depravity. God teaches that the worst depravity is to reject His Son, Jesus Christ. Murder is destroying life. Rejecting Christ is tantamount to murdering Him. It keeps His life from happening in us, to us and for us. Rejecting Christ is like spiritual suicide that happens before people are ever made alive in Him. You might even call it aborting Christ.
