About The Bible 15

Read Proverbs 30:1-33 Verse 5 Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.

With all due respect to commentators, the Bible turns out to be its own best commentary in many cases. Take, for example, Psalm 19:7.11, where several qualities of God’s Word are mentioned:

God’s Word can make a difference! It is “perfect, converting the soul” and “sure, making wise the simple.” The only sure way to modify human character and behavior is by applying God’s Word.

God’s Word is right and pure, “rejoicing the heart and enlightening the eyes.” Unless an action or decision is right and done from pure motives, you won’t enjoy it. How comforting and reassuring, then, should be your daily contact with God’s “right” Word!

There is infinite value and unending satisfaction in God’s Word. “More to be desired than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” In life’s great moments…decision, drama and death, you will be satisfied only with God’s Word. Nothing else can equal its value and its comforting, satisfying impact.

The Bible provides warnings and rewards for the faithful and obedient reader. The warnings come from God’s own heart and the reward is that God Himself becomes your shield. Reading and obeying God’s Word makes it possible for Him to surround you with His presence.
