Christians Must Tell Others

Christians must tell others that they have become Christians. Jesus and the Bible said so.

Luke 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

Most individuals who pray to receive Christ in my hearing quickly say or do something that can be evidence that God has done a work on them. They often thank me, smile or shed some tears of joy. When they thank me, I quickly encourage them to thank God. He is the One who saves. I am not. Usually they quickly know that they should be more grateful to God than to me. I believe God puts gratitude into them and a desire to reveal their salvation to others. It is never my job to tell people that they are saved. Telling them that they are saved is the work of the infallible Holy Spirit. Telling others that they are saved is their job. Blessedly I have often been the first one to whom they confess Christ.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

We might tell someone that we believe they are saved but the fact is, we can’t look upon their hearts and know for sure what is going on there. People can lie to God when they pray and they can lie to me. If they give me no evidence that they are saved, I ask them questions such as “Did He Do It? Did He come into your heart? In your own words can you tell me what He did, if anything?” There have been occasions when individuals gave me no reason to believe that God had done a work on them until days, weeks or even months later. If they never give me any evidence that they are saved, I cannot know that they are. All I know is that I have tried to give them a chance at salvation and planted some seeds. It is comforting to know that some even rejected Jesus in His very presence. I love it when they quickly give me evidence of their salvation. Telling others about our salvation benefits us and also benefits others.

The old chorus had it right: “We’re saved, saved to tell others of the Man of Galilee. Saved, saved to live daily for the Christ of Calvary. Saved, saved to invite you to His salvation free. We’re saved, saved by His blood for all eternity.”

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Psalms 107:2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
