Spiritually dead people cannot grow spiritually. We must not confuse physical life and growth with spiritual life and growth.
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
People who have not been born again into the kingdom of God cannot see and understand the most important truths in the Bible. Becoming born again is an eye-opener for the eyes of our hearts, not the eyes beside our noses. Neither can he enter into the Kingdom of God.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Being born again means the same thing as becoming a child of God.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.
We must receive Jesus into our hearts because only the God who created our hearts in the first place can purify them.
Ephesians 3:17a That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;
Acts 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them (the Gentiles) witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as He did unto us: (the Jews) 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
God does not force His way into our hearts. He enters them and does His work on them only when we ask Him to. A saved person is one whose heart Jesus has entered and begun his work in them.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
If you need to you ought to pray this prayer: Lord Jesus, I receive you as my Saviour. Come into my heart. Wash away my sin. Make me a child of God. Do your saving and keeping work on my heart. If He has planted spiritual life into your heart you will now be able to understand God’s word more than you ever have before. Read on.
