Psalms 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

There are four aspects of blessedness which result from the way God deals with our sins: (1) forgiveness; (2) covering; (3) no iniquity imputed (reckoned), but rather God’s own righteousness; and (4) an honest, guileless spirit.
David dealt with the last item first. He was evidently full of guile and duplicity just before he wrote this psalm. At first, he kept silent. He found to his dismay, however, that such conduct only got him into more trouble. Finally, he decided to acknowledge his sin before God, and at that point obtained forgiveness.
God’s covering mercy is another precious fact. David wrote, “Thou art my hiding place!” When we have leveled with the Lord and have nothing unconfessed, we can depend on Him not only to forgive, but also to cover us.
God also gives us His righteousness instead of preserving the record of our sins and shortcomings. Notice His gracious offer, when forgiveness has been obtained: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye” (Ps. 32:8). And from the New Testament: “Abraham believed God, and it was counted (reckoned) unto him for righteousness (Rom. 4:3). Paul wrote these marvelous words not for Abraham’s sake alone, but for us also, to whom it (i.e., righteousness) shall be imputed, if we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead (Rom. 4:23-24).
Small thought here. Forgiveness is great; positive righteousness is better. God offers both to you if you level with Him and commit yourself to Him in faith!
