Love Gives 3

What changes us from haters into lovers? RECEIVING JESUS. When we receive Him He gives us the Holy Spirit who sheds the love of God abroad in our hearts.

Romans 8:9: But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Galatians 5:19-22a: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Those activities are the opposite of love. The kind of love God wants us to demonstrate is the fruit of the Spirit. If you are not a lover AND a giver, you have either not received Jesus and the Holy Spirit or you are not walking in the Spirit. Quenching love and quenching the Spirit happen at the same time.

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

1 Thessalonians 5:19: Quench not the Spirit.
