THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD.
Mark 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
1 Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
Modern idols can be wealth, careers, churches, preachers, pleasure or hobbies, you name it. Anything we desire, trust, or love more than God is an idol. Anything we put above God in importance is an idol. He created us and owns us. He deserves our obedience but we are sinful rebels. We want to make our own decisions and run our own lives. He wants to create in us clean hearts that want to obey Him and enables us to obey Him.
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Only God can make an evil man into a good man. A survey taken of a church I attended said 62 percent of the members believe that baptizing babies saves them. Baptism is their idol.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The two words IN HIM are specific. It does not say in him plus baptism or an idol or in anyone or anything else.
