Racism Is A Heart Problem

We call the muscles in our chests that pump blood around our bodies our hearts. Those muscles are not where racism does its thing. Those muscles keep us alive physically but have nothing to do with good or evil. I find only one occasion in the Bible where it speaks about that muscle.

1 Samuel 25:37 But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. 38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

In the Bible our hearts are sometimes called our spirits or our inner man. The muscles in our chests will all die at some point in time, but the spiritual non-material heart will exist forever in either Heaven or the Lake of Fire and it will occupy a new body, a spiritual body.

1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

We cannot see our spiritual hearts. We can only see the good or evil they produce.

Matthew 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

The difference between the good hearts and the evil hearts is that the Lord Jesus Christ is living in the good hearts doing His work on them and changing their output from evil to good. The Bible speaks in several places about His work on our hearts.

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

Acts 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them (Gentiles) witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; (Jews) 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Evil hearts produce all manner of evil, not just racism. Physicians can do some repair work on the muscles in our chests, new valves, arteries, etc. But no man can do anything to change his own spiritual heart or the spiritual hearts of other men. That is spiritual work. That is the work of God alone. God is a Spirit. Only He can change the output of a heart from hate to love. I hope and pray that you have invited Christ into your heart and He has begun His work on it.

Laws, demonstrations, riots, arson and violence might change the symptoms of an evil heart but can never change the cause.
