Telling Our Creator To Shut Up

Telling God to shut up is the most dangerous thing anyone can do. There are many subtle ways we tell Him to shut up. We leave our Bibles closed and ignore them. We do not study them. We avoid hearing His teachers and preachers. We avoid Christians who live the Bible. We quench the Holy Spirit. We grieve Him. We resist Him. All those things and many more get exactly the same result as telling Him to shut up. We should be frightened to death to do any of those things. I used many subtle ways to tell my Creator to shut up for about the first half of my life. Blessedly, He got my attention and I finally started paying attention. I want to pay attention to Him for the rest of my life. It shocks me when I discover that my flesh still wants to tell Him to shut up. Admitting to ourselves and to Him that we have been ignoring what He has to say is a step in the right direction. We need Him to make us individuals who are more than natural men, men who can perceive what He wants to tell them.

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
