Two Kinds Of Life 8

1 Corinthians 15:44b There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit

There are two kinds of life, physical and spiritual. There are two kinds of birth, physical and spiritual. There are two kinds of death, physical and spiritual. There are two kinds of bodies, physical and spiritual. We understand and experience physical life. We are conceived, we are born, we live and we die. The Bible teaches us all we need to know about spiritual bodies, spiritual birth, spiritual life and spiritual death.

Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

So did Adam die the day that he ate the forbidden fruit or did he die 930 years later? The answer is both. Unless God lied and the Bible is wrong, Adam died spiritually the day he ate the forbidden fruit and he died physically 930 years later. Physical death is when our hearts stop beating. Our physical life is temporary. Spiritual death is separation from God, who is the source of both physical life and spiritual life. Spiritual life is eternal. Adam did not have eternal life because He did not have Christ in his heart. He was only innocent of sin before eating the forbidden fruit. Adam was separated from God when he ate the forbidden fruit. We inherit spiritual death and separation from God from Adam.
