Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Faith does not come by hearing my words or the words of any other mortal man.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jesus is the Living Word and the Bible is the written word. We need both the Living Word and the written word.
Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
We must deal directly with God because faith in anyone or anything else above God or instead of God is idolatry.
Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
