I have known a number of people who wanted to control me. If they could not control me they wanted nothing to do with me. In a sense, they wanted to be my God. God is the only one to whom we can wisely and safely give control of ourselves and our lives. If God is not in control of you, you are either unsaved or a sinning Christian. Sometimes even genuine Christians waver between God controlling them and something or someone else controlling them. Many attach too much importance to self-control. We can become our own idol, a substitute for God.
