Why We Must Be Born Again

John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

How can one be dead while they are alive? Physical death is when our heart stops beating and the rest of our bodies die from a lack of life-giving blood. Spiritual death is separation from God who is the source of spiritual life. Before they ate the forbidden fruit Adam and Eve did not have spiritual and eternal life. They had physical life and innocence.

Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Adam and Eve died spiritually the day they ate the forbidden fruit. They died physically many years later. We all inherit our spiritual deadness from our first physical father Adam.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
