More Blessed To Give

Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

The plain truth of the passage is that we should not just work for ourselves, we should work to meet the needs of others. We seem to live in a world full of people who believe it is better to receive than to give. How can anyone claim to believe in Jesus but not believe in what He said? God is the original source of everything we have anyway. What we have is merely lent to us. The more we pass along of what God has lent us the more He will replace it and the more blessed we will be. Some definitions of blessed: Supremely blest; fortunate, well off, happy. More blessed would mean better off or happier.

Matthew 10:8b freely ye have received, freely give.

2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Proverbs 11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

So, are you in Jesus’ camp or the other one?
